how to access asp.net web configuration tool in visual studio 2015

 

Introduction

In this article i will show you how to open, access or find asp.net web configuration tool in visual studio 2013 or 2015 as it is missing in the visual studio top menu items.

Follow the following steps :

Step 1

Open command prompt.

To open command prompt go to run and type cmd.

Step 2

Type CD\ 

Then press Enter.

Step 3

Type CD Program Files

And then press Enter

Step 4

Type IIS Express

And then press Enter.

Step 5

Paste the below command after that :

iisexpress.exe /path:C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\ASP.NETWebAdminFiles /vpath:"/webadmin" /port:50270 /clr:4.0 /ntlm

And then press Enter

Note:* Replace the port number in above command with your localhost port number. You will find port number when you run your application then look into the browser address bar for port number.

Step 6

Dont Close command prompt. Keep it running.

Open any web browser and paste the below command in address bar :

http://localhost:50270/webadmin/default.aspx?applicationPhysicalPath=C:\Users\Rantech\Documents\Visual Studio 2015\WebSites\healthcare&applicationUrl=/

That's it.. You can see web configuration tool in front of you. You can create or manage users of your application from there..... cheersss....

Note *: Replace port number and path with your own application path and port number.

Note*: To know the path of your application open visual studio with your project. Go to solution explorer > Right click on your project name > click on open folder in file explorer > copy the path from the address bar top of the file explorer.
